The Brazos Bombers look to provide "affordable family fun", with "nine innings of entertainment". Fans seem to always enjoy the games, and want to come back. The three phrases that Uri, the owner, goes by and uses to motivate the rest of the staff with is "all we do is win", "one team one dream", and "make it happen". These can all be seen in the staff, because everyone works together and keeps a great attitude, which helps create a fun and inviting atmosphere for the fans.
My job responsibilities as a game-day intern with the Bombers is a little bit of everything. I have helped deliver game schedules to a group of sponsors, deliver flyers to different churches to promote their "faith and family night". I have even helped with their baseball camp, and also with getting the field ready before the season. During games my responsibilities differ from game to game. The duties differ from working in the concession stand, to helping with on-field games. For the on-field games I make sure the kids or adults are ready to play the game we have lined up in between every half inning. To be able to have this position, you must be a student in college. The perks for this job include a great network, and also an exciting intern trip to Houston. There has been quite a few past interns that have gone on to work for professional organizations. The trip to Houston included a tour of the Houston Dynamo and Houston Astros buildings from people that interned with the bombers in the past. We also got to watch both teams play a game.
With the Bombers, I now know how much work it takes to get a ballpark ready for the season and keep it running. I have learned how to work in the concession stand, new ways to set up my resume, and how important sponsorships are. For more information you can find it on there website at www.bvbombers.com.
